Why Volunteering Untapped PHL?

Over three years ago, when Seth Franz looked around Baltimore and saw the opportunity to engage thousands of young people with volunteerism, others might have missed the potential he saw. Now in 2017, Seth and his team are drawing 200 plus young professionals each month to plant trees, paint playgrounds, and enjoy a few pints when they're through.

This is Volunteering Untapped. And now it's live in Philly!

We're here to tell you briefly about our mission and why we think it's crucial to bring this program to Philadelphia.

Our Mission Statement

Make volunteering a habit for young professionals in Philadelphia

To us, this means developing exciting and impactful volunteer opportunities that engage you in your community. These events should be reflective of the needs and population of our city, and should span all neighborhoods within the city limits. It also means these events are just as much about you as the non-profits we support. You are eager to donate your time to a great cause, and these groups are extraordinarily grateful for your contribution. It is VU PHL's job to make sure all parties get the maximum value out of the exchange.

Our Delivery Model

On the second Saturday of every month from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm, VU volunteers with a different nonprofit organization, and then the group spends the afternoon at a local bar.

This setup provides volunteers structure and a community of young people who are passionate about giving back to their city without requiring a lot of upfront investment. Our goal is to inspire and educate volunteers about our partner organizations and enable those who find a connection with your cause to explore opportunities with them.

How To Get Started

That is one of the biggest benefits to being part of the VU Crew! Our membership mantra is "Sign up, Show up" - meaning all of the details will be managed for you. No need to bring gear, tools, or anything else besides yourself! We provide a fully developed event, water, snacks, and food/drink specials afterwards all to reward your hard work.
